On Pregnancy

Today, I am officially 19 weeks pregnant!  Seven more days and I'll be halfway through.  Yay!

These last few weeks, I have learned some very interesting facts about pregnancy.  I have learned that no matter what you eat, throwing up is the worst thing in the world, stretch marks are ugly, and I am outgrowing my clothes faster than I can wear them out!

There is one more thing that I have learned, and I have decided that it is the worst side effect I have so far experienced:  Loss of Bladder Control.

Yes, you read me right.

I am sure that those of you who already have children understand what I'm talking about.  And for those of you who don't have children yet, just get ready!

Let me explain...

Getting ready in the morning takes twice as long.  I seem to always be OK until I get my shower taken and my teeth brushed.  Then, everything that was still in my stomach from the night before decides that it would like to relocate itself.  And as I have stated before I have no bladder control, so the inevitable happens; I pee my pants.  This means I have to take another shower and brush my teeth again.  If I could just make myself throw up before I take my first shower and brush my teeth, my problems would be solved.

I have also discovered that sneezing brings on the same effects.  As does laughing real hard or coughing!

I just hope that this is not a preview of what I'm going to experience once I get old.

What we mothers do for our children!

An Amazing Feeling!

I am now finishing up my 18th week of pregnancy!  And for the last week and a half to two weeks I have been feeling strange things inside my abdomen.

It's definately not what I thought it would be.  The thumps and bumps are only occasional, and once I figured out which ones were made by gas and which ones were made by baby, I have started to actually feel better.  Not better as in health wise, better as in sort of relief.

It's a wonderful feeling!  I hope everyone (females of course) gets to experience it in their lifetime.

It's still early enough in my pregnancy that I don't feel it every day and only very quickly when I do.  Most usually when I'm relaxed and sitting still.  Sometimes I find my self concentrating on my abdomen waiting for the quick little nudge just so I can have the joy of feeling it again.  But, when I concentrate too much I usually end up feeling my heart beating and then I can't feel anything else.

How precious the few seconds a day are when I feel the thumps!

A final word on Christmas.

Christmas with my family was a little different this year.  My sisters and I had planned to get together with my parents on January 31st to celebrate Christmas and the new year at the same time.  Well, at the last minute my Older sister's two youngest kids came down with the flu.

Due to the kindness of my sister's heart, she decided that they had better stay home and not expose the rest of us to the dreaded virus!  Thus postponing our Christmas celebration to the 14th of this month.

So, this past weekend my husband, my crazy haired dog and I all traveled the 150 mile trek to my parents house in honor of the celebration!

Now, this brings up another topic that needs explaining before I go on.

When my older sister got married 12 years ago, her husband introduced one of his family's traditions to our family!

When it is their turn to give their gifts to every one, each person receives a few small packages.  Instead of opening and enjoying each gift, it is a race to find your ammunition and weapon, which are individually wrapped.  That's right I said ammunition and weapon.  Now, remember there are kids involved (Kids of many sizes) so, when I say ammunition, I am talking about marshmallows, potatoes, rubber darts, ping pong balls...  and of course, the proper gun with which to shoot them.

But, this year we had a plan,  we weren't going to wait for them to give us our gifts.  No, that would give them a head start.  We planned an ambush!  As soon as supper was over, we loaded up our pockets with marshmallows and ganged up on them.  They were totally unexpected and unprepared.  Our war ended up outside with silly string!

Now, for your enjoyment I am uploading pictures from the last few years:

2006 - The first year of Silly String.

This is my brother-in-law.  The one guilty of this tradition!

My mom, bound and determined to catch my husband!

My dad, my #1 niece and my #2 Sister!

2007 - Marshmallow guns

"Don't shoot me I've got the Baby"
My #1 Sister and #2 niece.

My #2 Sister, My #1 Niece and Moose.

2008 - Potato Guns

LB - "Is this thing really going to work or is this a trick?"

My Mom - "Oh, you got me in the eye!"
My #2 Niece - "Don't shoot my Momma Scott!"

2009 - Ping Pong Ball Guns
This year is special because everyone only got 4 bullets (ping pong balls) only, which equals 36 ping pong balls total.  This is also the one that hurt the most which should explain the funny expressions.  We all had red welts when it was over.  Also, my mother got the bright idea to collect all the balls that were shot at her and hide.  Which caused a stand off!

My #1 Sister

My #1 Niece.

My mom with all but 2 ping pong balls against LB and my #2 brother-in-law.

My Dad wins!

2010 - Silly String again.
I didn't get any pictures of the ambush. I was a little busy, but I did get some of the silly string fight!

"Mom, is that you?"

My #1 Sister and LB - notice the two cans hidden in her waist line!

My #1 sister and my Dad!

I hope you enjoyed!

Today's Thoughts

1.)  I hate throwing up!

2.)  I hate heartburn!

3.)  When your pregnant, tums don't work like they did prepregnancy.

4.)  I get tired of shaving my legs.

5.)  I felt the baby move for the first time this week!  It feels weird!

6.)  I am 17 weeks pregnant.  The first week of my 5th month! YAY!!

7.)  I get to see my older sister and her family this weekend.  We didn't get to see them over Christmas because her kids got the flu.

8.)  I'm glad I haven't gotten the flue yet, and I hope I never do.

9.)  I don't mind the cold weather, but it makes my skin too dry.

10.)  I wish we could get some rain or snow.  I don't care how it comes, we just need moisture.

Christmas

I have a confession.  I had two straight weeks off work over Christmas, and I didn't blog once.  But, I guess you already knew that.

Anyway, Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year.  I don't know why I didn't post anything.  Well, I guess I really do, I was lazy.

All laziness aside, I had a WONDERFUL Christmas!

The best part about the whole Christmas holiday, was Christmas morning opening presents with LB and Moose.

It was so nice, the TV was off, the Christmas lights were on, we were in our flannels, and wrapping paper and stockings were thrown all over the floor!  It was just the three of us.  I liked it.

Here are some pictures for your enjoyment:  (Please remember, I had just woken up when these pictures were taken)

I learned Something Today

Today was a fast and furious day.

I had a Dr's appointment in The City today.  I live 120 miles from my doctor, so my day started pretty early; especially since my wonderful husband thinks we need to get the earliest appointment available.  I was lucky today, because the appointment was at 9:30.  (That means we had to leave our house at 7:30). But, unfortunately, my appointment for next month is at 8:00.

Anyway, after my appointment we decided to take a quick trip to the mall.  I have been in desperate need of new clothes since all of mine are currently to tight around the middle.

When we arrived at the mall, that was when it began.  LB does not like malls.  Wait, let me rephrase that.  LB does NOT like malls.

Once we entered the building, LB held my hand really tight and walked so fast I almost had to run to keep up with him.  I think he was afraid someone was going to steal me.  Then, once we got to the maternity store, he told me we had to hurry so he could get back to work.  I tried on clothes and was having a good time, and then when I would ask him of his opinion, he would reply:  "I don't care just pick something!"

So, I hurried, made my selections, and purchased a couple of new outfits.

They're very cute, by the way.  And if you're currently looking for maternity clothes, I'm going to suggest you try the "Motherhood Maternity"  store.  They even have bras in crazy large sizes for only $18.00!

Back to LB...  Once the shopping was done and we had our purchases safely back in the car he was back to his calm and relaxed self.  He then informed me of his true feelings on malls:  "I don't understand why anyone would want to go to the mall.  It's nothing special, there's too many people and it's dirty!"

To which I replied "But this way, you only have to make one stop.  You can shop for everyone in the family and even eat lunch!"

He still didn't agree.

So, I learned, if I'm going to ever have more than hour at the mall, I'm going to have to find a new shopping buddy.

Who's up for the challenge?

Anybody?

Please?

Happy New Year!

OK!

So, I'm 6 days late on wishing you a happy new year, but it's I've decided that it's better to wish you late than not at all.

I have, also, decided that it's time to get back in the saddle and start blogging again.

I know your shouting yippee!

My "anytime" sickness has just about subsided now and I'm not as tired as I used to be.  So my afternoons that were once spent sprawled out on the couch with my eyes shut are just about to be over until my abdomen becomes so huge that I'm worn out again.   And that means that I have the energy to start doing the things I used to do again!

I am now 16 weeks pregnant and I'm going to the Dr. tomorrow for another check up.  Pray for me!

Christmas break is over and I am back to work (if I knew how to put a sad smiley face here I would, but I don't know how to do that) Fifty four year olds for seven hours a day, I am glad that I am only having one child.

Anyhow, you'll be seeing a lot more of me from now on.

Well, I'll talk to ya later!
