It Came and Went!

Yesterday, June 21, 2011, was my official due date.

But, I am still here, in my nicely air conditioned house with a big fat belly!

My doctor told me two Mondays ago that she didn't think I would make it another seven days, before I had Baby J.  Well, the next Monday came and went, and she told me the same thing again.  "I really think you'll have this baby this week."  She says.

My sister and I have decided that all doctors tell you that whether they truly think it or not.  Maybe it's supposed to be some type of mental stimulation. They tell you you're going to have the baby and then you mentally stimulate your body into going into labor. I don't know if that's her true intentions or not, but if it is, it sure isn't workin' for me.

Even though my doctor thinks I'll have the baby this week, she said that we would schedule an induction at my next appointment on Monday if he hasn't come.  So, how sure is she really?

That's a pretty good question, isn't it?

But there is at least light at the end of the tunnel.  Well, it's actually a baby at the end of the tunnel.  But, either way you look at it, I won't be pregnant for much longer!  Yay!

Stay tuned because I'll post a blog as soon as he comes!

Snake Plant

In addition to our vegetable garden and fruit trees, I have lots of plants.  You know, the kind you water and take care of all summer and then when winter comes along you can't bear to leave them outside so you move them inside to live out the cold.  And then after years of this cycle, you eventually end up with some so big you have to have your husband move them in and out for you.  Yes, those are the kind I have.

The plant to the far left in the picture above is called a snake plant, or Mother-in-laws tongue.  (The tall skinny leaves is the snake plant.  It shares a pot with an arrowhead vine.)

Two weeks ago, I discovered this little green thing growing in and among the leaves of this plant.  Now, my mother gave me this plant a few years ago.  She had owned this plant for years and I had never remembered seeing anything like this on this plant before.  So, I call up my mom and describe what I have found.

Come to find out, this plant does produce a flower on occasion.  My mom said it had bloomed a couple of times for her years ago, but it hadn't in a while.  So, for me to have a bloom is an exciting event.

Since, this is rare, I'm sharing it with you.

I hope you enjoy.

My Kitchen Window

This is my kitchen window from the inside.  It is above my kitchen sink, which is where I think most kitchen windows usually are.  But, this particular window has something that other windows don't have; a great view!

This is the spotted pig that sits on the sill of my kitchen window and makes smile every time I look at it!

This is the tree with the tire swing, that within a few years I'll be able to watch my son playing on while I'm washing dishes.

Oh, wait!  It doesn't have a tire swing.

I guess somebody is just gonna have to build one for me. (Hint Hint)

This is my willow tree with the Adirondack chairs where I like to sit and read on cool mornings.

And this, this is my favorite view.

My husband doing yard work, or working in the shop, (which actually takes up most of my view), or grilling hamburgers, or mowing the yard...

On this particular evening, he's finishing up my flower bed.

Maybe, before long I'll be able to show you pictures of it splashed with color from the flowers I've planted, but I've got to have this kid first.

I like watching him work outside.  Not just because he builds me cool things and mows the yard so I don't have to, but because he's happy when he's outside.  And I like to see him happy.  And one day, before long, I'll get to watch him doing all the same things listed above with a little shadow following him around trying to be just like his daddy!

When farm work is done...

This year because of the drought, harvest took less time than normal.  Usually by this time we are just beginning harvest.  And then we will start plowing each of the fields.  But, this year, we have already cut all the wheat we had, and plowed all our fields.

So, what do you do when you are finished with farm work early?

You let your big fat pregnant wife talk you and your brother into building a flower bed out of railroad ties in record heat temperatures!

Aren't they sweet?

They look hot, maybe I should bring them a glass of water!

Now, I just need to find someone to fill it with dirt!

Anyone interested?

I've got gatorade!

This Year's Harvest

Harvest is over again for another year!

The wheat has all been cut and the combines put away.

Now it's time to plow the fields in preparation for next year's harvest.

This year's harvest was a little discouraging.  For those of you who watch the weather know that Western Oklahoma is in the middle of a drought.  So, the wheat that we didn't loose, didn't produce enough to really be worth cutting.

But, such is the chance you take when you decide to be a farmer.

Let's all just take a moment and pray for a good crop this next year and plenty of rain to feed it along.

20 Days!

It's official!  I'm close enough now that I'm not going to count forward any more.  I'm going to count backwards and by the day.  It makes me feel like I'm closer.

So, for those of you who aren't backward, I'm at 37 weeks.  Which means I have 3 weeks to go!

The last time I posted a picture of my fat belly, I was 29 Weeks.  So, if you'd like to compare, feel free to click  on the link!
