A Western Oklahoma Day Trip

Just recently, Cooper has become interested in trains.

LB, found out about a quick train ride that was taking place in a small town south west of  us called Lone Wolf.

The train was called The Quartz Mountain Flyer.  I wish I could remember all the specifics about the train, they were pretty interesting. But I do remember that the cars were built in the early 1950's.

I think the cars had been redone, but they were very nice and clean.

It was a two hour ride that went approximately 20 miles, round trip. The train drove approximately 10 miles an hour.

The scenery was beautiful!  We even went through one of the mountains.  It wasn't a tunnel, but the tracks cut right through the middle!

The train makes a stop at a little town called Lone Wolf.

When we got off the train there, we were given a flag and all the kids got a penny that had been smashed by the train!  Cooper thought that was so cool!

It was a truly wonderful day!

I think we will do this again next year!
