Skiing

This is Angle Fire Ski Resort.

This is my husband!

He has never been skiing before.

This is a few of my cousins.

They all know how to ski.

Everyone had a blast and made several runs down the slope.

Except for LB, he had a good time, but he only made one trip down.

He happened to find a mud hole.
Don't worry, he's okay, just a little sore.  Nothing broken except  his ski pole.  But, he did decided he was to old to pick up a new hobby and that one trip down was good enough.
He might try again next time.

I would have gotten a better picture of his mud covered self, but he was faster than I was.
You see, I couldn't quit laughing!

Vacation

LB and I just got back from vacation.  As in "Just" I mean two days ago!

That's right, for the first time, since our honeymoon, six years ago, we went on a trip!

It was great!  We had a blast!

We began our journey from Oklahoma to Angel Fire, New Mexico, on Saturday the 13th and we came home one week later!

It was a beautiful drive.  We took our time and didn't rush.  It took us two days to drive out there, but we were able to stop and enjoy a few places on the way!

If you're ever in Springer NM you should stop at the Brown Hotel & Cafe.  It is a historic building that is still run the same way it was when it was originally open. There are rooms upstairs and a large dining room downstairs. I suggest you get a slice of home made bread while you're there.

We also didn't go alone.  We caravaned with my Aunt Nana and Uncle Sam, and their kids and grand kids.

For those of you who know my family, know that there is never a dull moment when we're all together.  I have stories upon stories I could tell you from my various experiences with them.  Some of them are so funny, we could have won $1,000,000 if we'd have caught it on tape!

Later this week, I'll tell you more about this trip and LB's experiences in learning how to ski!

Interesting Facts

Here is my husband, he's making lots of noise.

What is he doing, you ask?

He is nailing cattle panels onto the floor of the stock trailer.

Why?

Well, let me tell you.

Hauling cattle is a messy business, because cattle tend to poop.   Cattle generally don't have any consideration for where they are when they decide to take care of business.  If they did it would be nice because then you wouldn't have to spend lots of time washing the trailer after a load of cattle.  Or have to clean your boots after being in the cattle pens.  I think you get the picture...

So, the problem is when you get several head of cattle in a moving stock trailer standing on lots of poop things tend to get a little slippery.  That's where the cattle panels come into play.  They give the cattle some traction on the floor and it keeps them from slipping and falling.

Meanwhile...

In the house...

Here is Moose!  Moose has a new toy, a soft squeaky bone.

He loves his new toy, in fact he loves his new toy so much, that when LB started making all the racket outside, Moose wouldn't even lay it down to bark!  So, he's running around the house with his bone in his mouth barking at the windows.  It was an interesting bark, as it was muffled and intertwined with small squeaks ever so often.

Too bad I didn't capture it on video!

Where I come from

This is where I grew up.

This was my back yard.

This is the creek where my sisters and I played.

This is the waterfall, that is currently dry due to the Oklahoma drought,
that feeds the creek where my sisters and I played.

Now maybe you can understand why I am fascinated with the flatness of western Oklahoma
and it's unstoppable wind.
