Well, we did it. We turned off the lights and locked the doors on our first home.
You know that scene in the movie You've Got Mail, where Meg Ryan closes up her bookstore and she turns around and sees a memory of her and her mom dancing when she was a child. Well, that's how it was tonight. All through the house there were memories. Good memories, sad memories, funny memories...
It was hard leaving. Leaving my memories. Leaving my friends. My house was like my harbor, my safe place. But now it's time for LB and I to move on and make new memories, new frieinds and a new home.
hasta lluego,
Amy

Moving Mania!: The Big Move
If there was a word that ment more than Exhausted, that's what I would be. I'm so tired my hair hurts!
This has definately been a bittersweet day. I am so excited to finally be getting to move to LB's hometown, and at the same time I'm sad to be leaving my first house. This house was the first thing that LB and I had bought together. We have made lots of memories in this house, and had been through some hard times here too. I will always have a soft spot for this house in my heart.
So, today we loaded, unloaded, packed and loaded some more. After about 300 trips from the house to the car and 3 trips to our new town; we stopped for the night. Tomorrow we will finish the last few items and clean the house before we turn off the lights and lock the door for the last time.
LB with his 2nd trailer load!
LB's mom was a godsend! Once I got to the point that my brain was fried, she just stepped in and did what was needed. If it hadn't been for her, I would probably still be sitting in the floor trying to pack the kitchen(which I started Friday night).
This is just 2 of our 4 storage buildings.
I told you we had a lot of stuff.
Tomorrow night we will be staying with LB's parents, and we will stay there until we close on our new house. That is as long as two new residents, a dog and five fish don't drive them crazy enough to kick us out. Now if you will look below you will se a picture of the place, where, hopefully in less than a week we will be hanging our hat.
Aint it cute!
Over and out!
Your Farm Friend,
Amy
Moving Mania! #3
After 3 months of collecting newspaper from everyone we know, 3 rolls of packing tape and 4 storage buildings, we're finally ready to finish clearing out the house. After a thorough washing of the stock trailer it is primed and ready to haul the final pieces our precious belongings to storage building #4. Bright and early tomorrow morning we're packing up and moving out.
So, check back here tomorrow to see pictures and a full update of all the adventures of moving.
I might even have a few minutes to steal away and capture a picture of our future home. (Which we won't actually get to move into for a whole other week.)
Until tomorrow....

Moving Mania! #2
Are we there yet?
How much longer?
I need to get some sleep.....
1 day down & 4 days left - still many more boxes to go!
How do 2 people accumulate so much stuff in such a short period of time. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Just where does this stuff come from? I've had 4 garage sales in the last 4 years, and I still have stuff pouring out of my ears. And my ears aren't even that big!
Maybe I just feel that way because I'm sleep deprived and have packed 3 trillion boxes and 15 storage buildings. See, I told you I had a lot of stuff. You'd think I'd have run out of things to pack by now!
"If you're so sleep deprived then why aren't you in bed?" you ask.
Well, I'm wondering that too.
Goodnight

Moving Mania!
Okay, so we're moving! I'm excited, I really am, but I hate moving.
OK, so I don't HATE moving. Getting a new house is pretty fun. It's just the process in which i have to get my stuff to the new house that I hate.
I wish there was a little moving fairy that would come to my old house, pack my boxes, move my boxes, and then unpack my boxes in my new house.
This would definately make moving more enjoyable.
It's been four years since my last move and I swore then, that I'd never move again unless we hired it done. Well, here we are moving again and I decided that last time really wasn't that bad. I had just over reacted and this time I would be older and wiser thus making the whole situation even better.
Well, I forgot.
(Tip: If you think you have enough newspaper, think again. Take what you already have and quadruple that, and then maybe you'll have enough.)
#2 - Judging the weight of a packed box is not my expertise. One problem is that I think that my husband should be able to pick anything up. Why not? He's a man. He's big and strong. So if I can't pick it up he should be able to, right? Wrong! I learned it doesn't take very many books in a large box to weigh a whole lot. Because I have become so good at packing boxes really full making them to heavy, my husband, LB, has begun to bring me only small boxes. Now I am back to the problem I have in #1.
#3 - Getting boxes and furniture safely out of the house is also a troublesome area. Either I am not as strong as I think I am, or that piano has gained some weight. Need I say more?
This is such a vicious cycle. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to maintain my sanity! I have only 5 more days until we have to be out of our house.
Wish me luck!

The 3 things I hate most about moving:
#1 - Finding boxes the perfect size for the items you want to pack is virtually impossible. They are either to small making me have to use two boxes, which gives me left over room. and I end up walking around the house looking for little odd ball items that I can fit in the box. Or the boxes are to big and I still end up walking around the house looking for that odd ball item to fill the extra space with. Eventually I end up running out of odd ball things and have to stuff extra newspaper in the boxes.(Tip: If you think you have enough newspaper, think again. Take what you already have and quadruple that, and then maybe you'll have enough.)
