It was hot out....

So, technically....

it's a hot tub!

Right?

See Ya!

P.S.  Anyone know where I can get a loan to pay my water bill?

Sewing Machine Discovery

So, lately, instead of blogging, I have been teaching myself to sew.

I started out pretty simple.

But, there's no fun in that!  So I attempted a few things a little bit harder.

  This pillow is my favorite!

It took a long time to sew all the pieces on, but it was worth it.  Baby J loves it!  And that's all that matters.  I was so proud of them, I even added them to my Etsy shop

I've been working on several other things too; like bags and embroidery.  (I'll show you pictures of those later)  I love crafting and I have just discovered a whole new world!

I guess I'm never going to get that pile of laundry ironed!

Helping Dad

Note:  Please excuse the fuzziness of these pictures.  I took them after dark with my iPod.
Baby J loves to help.  He is always saying "I help too"  It's so sweet and I love the fact that he is almost always willing to do what ever is asked.  But since he's a boy, helping his dad is a lot more fun!

The other night while LB was working on his pick-up, I couldn't keep Baby J off the creeper.  I didn't even have to explain how to use it.  He caught on real quick and...

before I knew it, he was scooted up right next to LB!

It was funny because every time Baby J banged on something under there dirt would fall into LB's eyes!

But what's a little dirt?

Especially when he won't be this age for long!

The joy of being a parent.

Matthew 7:24-27

24.  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25.  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not:  for it was founded upon a rock.
26.  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27.  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell:  and great was the fall of it.

My Boy is Growing Up - I Think

LB and I finally gave into the fact that our baby was ready for a toddler bed!  It was a very hard decision.  You see, these past two years has gone by way to fast and I'm not ready to come to terms that my baby is in fact two.  And on top of that.  He could not get out of his crib, thus I knew he was safe in his bedroom and not escaping out the front door of the house while I'm sound asleep in the room next to him.

Well, after a couple weeks of sleepless nights, we finally convinced Baby J that when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he is not to come and climb into bed with us.  He is to stay in his bed and we will all be much more rested once morning arrives.

I was happy, two weeks wasn't as long as I thought it would take convince him to stay in his bed!
Everything was finally going smooth.  Until...

Well, at least he's still in his room!

Caterpillar Catastrophe

The other day, when LB and Baby J were mowing the yard, I found this.....

A once beautifully foliaged jalapeno plant stripped of it's leaves!

I was in shock!

I cried and pouted and wondered why such a terrible thing could happen to me!

Then I found this......

and this....

Then, I quickly rant to LB and begged him to come and rescue my beloved garden from the four large plant killing beast that in less than 24 hours stripped all the beautiful, lush green leaves off one of my jalapeno plants!

I was so sad, but LB and a bottle of seven dust came to the rescue!

I will not tell you how this story ends.  I will let you use your imagination.  But I will tell you this, everything has recovered nicely and is continuing to produce nice, large, yummy, bug free vegetables for our table!

The Joy of A Pair Of Pliers

Every Sunday, after church, we have a routine.  It's a good routine and it has always worked.  Until, a few Sunday's ago when a small change caused some big tears!

After church, we come home and eat lunch.  Then, LB rocks Baby J down for his nap before heading off to the farm.  Well, this particular Sunday, we were late getting home and eating lunch and LB needed to get to the farm as quickly as possible.  So, I would be in charge of Baby J's naptime routine.  This plan did not sit well with Baby J and he commenced to let us know by producing some very large and pitiful tears!

LB tried to explain that once he woke up from his much needed nap he would be able to join him.  But, Baby J just continued to repeat "I wanna go wiss you"

That's when LB happened to remember the pair of pliers he had for Baby J, but just hadn't given to him yet.  (We don't have a practice of bribing, but on this particular day, he was so tired and not going with his Daddy at that very moment was very heart breaking to him.  So, giving him the pliers to wear when he got up was merely giving him something to look forward to.)  He quickly went to the closet, dug them out, and fitted them to his waist so he could be just like Daddy!

That seemed to do the trick.  He was so excited!  He was ready for  his nap so he could go help Daddy with his "new piers"

And then, for the next several days, he wanted to wear them around the house too!

I love my boys!

My Back Porch

The other day, in the middle of the day, this bench showed up on my back porch!

No, it didn't miraculously appear, my wonderful husband surprised me!

A couple years ago, I told you about a wonderful view I had out of  My Kitchen Window.  Well, you can get that same view from my back porch - minus the lines from the screen.  I enjoy sitting here,  it's my little oasis.  And now that I am telling you about it, I wish I had taken a few more pictures of my porch in general.

LB, knowing how much time I spend out here, decided to surprise me with this nice bench! It's nice and comfortable and I'm having fun making pillows for it!

Isn't my husband sweet?

I think so!

Lately

So, I have over 100 pictures on my camera that I have been dying to go through and share with you.  Like pictures of the giant caterpillars that devoured my jalapeƱo plants in one day. And of baby J's first trip to the stockyards and swimming in his toy box, and a myriad of other snapshots. But unfortunately, I have not had time to sit down and go through them. I have just been enjoying my summer way too much!

I really hope you all have been having as much fun as me!  The wonderful weather has been keeping Baby J and I outside every chance we get. Which is helpful for keeping my house clean. And the farm and the garden are taking up the rest of the time.

Well, maybe I'll get to share something with you tomorrow!

My little Boy

From the time he gets up to the time he goes to bed at night it's a constant go, go, go. Within just a few minutes of waking in the morning, the house is filled with the sound of little feet running down the hall or tractors being raced or various animals being loaded into a trailer. From there we have food splattered on the wall and dripped on the floor and rubbed into his hair. And the many trips made outside include dirt and mud and frogs. There's no down time, no quietly playing with dolls or coloring or painting toes; because he's a boys. And boys run and jump and climb. There is no such thing as low gear. Periodically throughout the day he wants to sit in your lap and read a book or snuggle. But then he remembers the ball that bounced under the tv, or the cabinet that's yet to be explored. So just as quickly as he decided he needed a hug he's gone again. Off on the next adventure of exploring the  Tupperware drawer or galloping his stick horse through the house or digging up the flowers you just planted. But then, just as suddenly as it began, it ends. And the day that seemed to be a whirlwind of dirt and noise and spilt food and scrapes is over all too soon. And he sits and rocks with you as his heavy lids struggle to stay open. And all the chaos of the day fades and slowly disappears behind the little moments. The little moments that make all the mess and craziness worthwhile. Moments like when he ask to hold your hand while waking across the yard. Or the hug and kiss he gives when you've finished changing his clothes for the fifth time. Or when he brings you his favorite tractor and ask you to sit by him in the floor and play with him. All the little moments that in reality are the most important moments. The moments that are just for you to hold in your heart. Moments that will only be here for a short time, because they will soon be replaced with football and girls and pick-ups. And before I lay him in his bed I thank God for this little boy and pray that He will give me many more moments just like today.
