From Wednesday to Today

I've been so busy, today is the first time I've sat down at my computer since last Tuesday!

What have I been doing?  Well...

Got caught up on laundry.

Took Baby J and Moose for a walk.

Watered the garden.

Picked up a bunch of broken branches still laying in our yard from the crazy ice storm a few weeks ago.

Got caught up on house cleaning.

Took Baby J and Moose for another walk then blew bubbles.

Watered the garden

Went with LB to feed the cows.

Cooked breakfast.

Stayed caught up on the house cleaning and laundry.

Watered the garden.

Went with LB  to get our camping spot cleaned up for a cook out.

Drove into a crazy hail storm on the way home from cleaning up the cook out spot!

Went and got last minute items for the cook out.

Cooked the Pioneer Woman's Individual Cobblers for the cook out.

Made baked beans and packed the ice chest

Went to the cook out

Had lots and lots of fun!

Ate smores!  And Cobblers!  And hot dogs! and baked beans and chili and potatoes...

Went to church

Took pictures of a friends baby.

Helped LB move a tractor home.

Cleaned out some flower beds.

Drove to Elk city for grocery shopping and picked up a birthday present for Baby J while we were there.

Forgot to water the garden.

I'm glad I don't have a very busy schedule!

Today

1.) I do not like this weather we are having here in Oklahoma! I am so so so ready for spring!

2.) I got a video camera for Christmas three years ago. I like my video camera and have lots of short video clips of Baby J. Ones that when he's older and watches them he will say: My mom is such a goober!

Despite the fact that I am going to be known as a goober, I really enjoy watching them. How fast they grow up!

3.) the floor in my bathroom is going to be ruined from all of the splashed water!

4.) Did I mention that I am ready for spring?

5.) My friends and I had a trip planned for taking our kiddos to the zoo today, but we canceled because of the weather. I'm so sad I was looking forward to seeing those elephants! Hopefully the weather will be nice next week!

Potatoes!

I'm so excited!

My potatoes are growing!

Last year's potatoes lasted until February!  I'm ready for that home grown taste again!

Joshua 1:8

8. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

~Joshua 1:8 KJV

Hungry

But not hungry enough to eat out of Baby J's hand.

At this point, I had to drop the camera and run after Baby J who was running after that poor cow trying to feed her a cube!

Isn't farm life fun!

Firehouse Moustache Wax

For those of you who don't know, LB is now sporting a moustache!  After a couple weeks, it has finally filled in nicely and begun to get a little length to it.  So, out of necessity, we started a hunt for Made in USA moustache wax.  That is how we found this product.

The story behind this product is actually pretty neat.  It is made in Mississippi by a man that is a Fireman and a Farrier.  He made this product out of necessity with the help of his fellow firemen.  I think it has a really cool story, if you'd like to check out their site click here:  Firehouse Moustache Wax

New Neighbors

This winter we had someone move into the tree in our back yard.
I'm not sure who they are, they're quiet and stay to themselves.

Baby J discovered the door and knocked, but no one answered.

He even tried to open the door with the latch, but they must have locked it!

Maybe we'll meet them sometime!

Baby J and Moose

LB bought this cute little wagon for me a few days ago.  He thought I might like to use it for decoration, but I think it would make a nice photo prop!!

Before I was able to put the wagon in a clean place Baby J found an alternate use for it.

It was so cute!  Moose likes to go for rides but I am usually the one who pulls the wagon, but Baby J was determined that he was going to be the one to do it.

He had to work really hard.  Moose weighs almost as much as Baby J does.

Hi mom, We're going for a walk!

Moose was a good sport.  He put up with a pretty unsmooth ride!

Never a dull moment!

Jack's House

Baby J loves to read.  On average we read four books before his nap and then several periodically throughout the day.  I'm glad he likes to read.  I believe it's good for a child to read books rather than watch television.

Because of his love for reading, we try to go to the library atleast once a week.

About a month ago, I came across this book.  It is so cute and the pictures are basically two page spreas pictures of large equipment that boys love.  Like, bull dozers, rack trucks, cement trucks...  The pictures are great!

Baby J liked this book so much, that I read it to him at least once a day and I checked it out twice!  I think this is a book I need to put on his birthday list!

If you have a very energetic little boy around you house, you should consider checking it out or even purchasing it!  It's Jack's House by Karen Magnuson Beil.

Happy Reading

Matthew 22:37 - 40

37.  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38.  This is the first and great commandment.
39.  And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Things

1.  Baby J said his first unprompted full sentence!
          "Cows eat hay"

2.  I am so glad that the weather has gotten nicer.  I love being outside and I love being in the garden.  I just hope we don't have another crazy freezey ice stosrm!!

3.  Baby J loves the nice weather because that means we take walks.
Moose likes to take walks too!

4.  I have discovered that I am unable to have a conversation with anybody without talking about Baby J.

I can't help it.  I try, but then I just sit there and don't say anything at all!

He's just so cute.  And if you had a a little boy that was as cute as Baby J, you would want to talk about him all the time too!

5.  Baby J ate playdough tonight.  He was really hungry and blue is his favorite color.

6.  Four out of the Five points above are about Baby J.

See?  I told you!

7.  Hummm.  If I was talking to you in person, this would be that moment of silence when I was trying to not tell you another adorable story about my adorable little boy!

I better call it a night!

Woodman's Pal

I bought this for LB for his birthday last year.

I know, it kinda looks mean doesn't it?!

Anyway, this is called The Woodman's Pal.  It's basically a really fancy machete.  They are made in Pennsylvania and have been since 1941.

No, I didn't pick it out myself, I'm a girl!

Anyhow, it is pretty cool.  I've seen him use it several times and it does seem to make light work of chopping down my corn stalks and okra stalks

So, far I have blogged mostly about girly USA made products, so for all you men out there...here you go.

So, please check out their website.  They have several Military Issue knives

Crazy Oklahoma Weather!

If you remember my post yesterday, then you'll remember that Baby J was wearing shorts and we had been in the garden.  It was a very nice morning!

Well, this morning...
At about 11:30 last night the sleet came in and at about 12:30 the power went out!

All night long, the temperature dropped to well below freezing and continued to sleet and thunder the rest of the night.

This morning we had this!

We went from shorts and t-shirts to electric blankets in less than 24 hours!

My poor flowers didn't stand a chance.

But what's nuts about all this is...
This is what it looked like at noon.  It had warmed up so much my driveway was almost dry and the tree branches weren't hanging as low.

Then...
Hey! What happened to all the ice?

The end of the day was so beautiful!  If it hadn't been so muddy, I'd have taken Baby J out to play.  It's almost hard to believe that this morning it was below freezing, no electricity, and a world of ice!

Glad It's warm and we have electircity again!
Amy

P.S. I'll update you on the wheat when it's not such a touchy subject

Gardening

Well, here it is!

I know it doesn't look like much, but give it a little time and it'll be nice and green!

Here are my onions, they look pretty good.

My potatoes still have a couple of weeks before they poke their heads above the ground.

Here's Baby J ready to help!

My dianthus came back nicely this year.  It got so big and pretty last year, I'm ready to see how much more it'll grow this year!

Yard work is so hard, Baby J had to have a little rest!

Here are my daffodils.  Last year they never did bloom.  I'm hoping they will this year, but with this storm that's coming through, I'm afraid they'll freeze!

I'm actually worrying about all my plants!  I moved my house plants back in today.  It had been so nice, I had already moved several back outside for the summer!

But, what we're really worried about is our wheat.  If the weather drops below freezing for too long it could kill our wheat.  So, if everybody would please say a prayer that the freeze would spare our wheat, we'd be thankful!

Confessions

Ok, so I have a confession.

Well, I'm not really sure that it would be a confession.  I think it's more like just plain information...

Anyhow.  I had two blog post planned for last week.  These post would be illustrated with pictures I had taken on Easter.  On Tuesday, I put by camera card in my computer, and...

Are you ready for this?

My computer would not take the images off.  I could see the pictures, but for some reason or another, the card would not allow the pictures to be copied!  I'm still not sure exactly what happened or even how it happened.  All I know, is that I am greatly dissapointed!  My heart was crushed!  My spirit was broken!  I wanted to wail in despair!

Ok, so you get the point.

But, I don't think you understand!  There were pictures of Baby J in his easter attire.  And of Baby J riding flash by himself for the first time.  And a great picture of my beloved.

I'm so sad.  For a few days I was at a loss of what to do!  That's why there were no post!  Maybe I'll be able to find someone to recover the files on my card.

Maybe this week will be better!

Braums Ice Cream and Dairy

I know I don't usually blog about food, but I just couldn't resist supporting this company.  Braum's is not just a USA company, it's an Oklahoma company(located in Tuttle)

I have recently started buying most of my Dairy and Bread items from the Braum's grocery section.  I have always thought that their milk and cheese was better than Walmart's but it wasn't until the other day that I noticed the prices.  Braum's prices beat Walmart price by a landslide!

I usually just throw an ice chest in the back of the car and stop at Braum's first.  I put everything I pick up in the ice chest and buy the time I get done at Walmart, it's still cold.  Works out great and saves me money.

Braum's is also known for their outstanding quality control.  I urge you to check out their website to learn a little more about what goes into their products.

Well, all this has made me want a 1/3 pound bacon cheese burger!

I better go,
Amy

Baby J loves Horses

Baby J loves horses!

The first thing Baby J does in the morning is ask for Daddy, and then "heed orse" (feed horse).

He loves all animals especially orses, puppies and dows.

He also loves helping his Daddy.  He wants to be the one to feed everything!

Here you do, flash.  Eat!

I love my little farmer!

Journey To The Center Of The Earth

I have always wanted to read this book.

So, on one of my recent trips to our local library, I checked it out!

It was good.  I could tell it was written years ago, because of some of the language used in it; just words that we don't use anymore.  It is definitely a boy book.  Full of action and adventure.  It leaves me wanting to read some of his other works of fiction.  If you have a young teenage boy, I would suggest this book to him.

Happy Reading!
