It's So Hot...

There was an old man harvesting corn with a team of mules; and it was so hot that the corn started poppin', and the mules thought it was snowin' so they just laid down and froze to death.

Gardening Success

Despite the drought and extreme heat, our garden did produce a little!

We had a few onions,

Potatoes, and

Squash!

And when they are prepared country style, they make a nice meal.

Fried Squash, Meatballs, and Potatoes in White Sauce.

Yum, Yum!

The Beef is even home grown!

Girl's Day Out

This post is a little over due.  I'm still learning how to juggle the laundry, sweeping the floor, and a crying baby all at the same time; oh yeah, and finding time to sleep some where in there.  Don't worry, I'll get the hang of it before long!

My two best friends live about an hour away from where I live.  And up until Wednesday, neither of them had seen Baby J.  So, to remedy the problem we met halfway at one of my favorite restaurants.

Baby J and I made a day of it, we went  a little early so I could show him off to a few other people before meeting up with the girls for pizza.
This is Kenda.  She held Baby J most of the time.  She loves kids and has 4 of her own!

This is Kathy.  She has one of these at home.  She became a grandma for the second time just about a month before Baby J arrived!

These two ladies are both wonderful ladies, and I miss seeing them since I've moved.  We get together periodically and we always have a wonderful time.  Usually not enough time.  We met at noon and before we knew it, it was 2:00 and the restaurant was closing!  Even though it was a short time, we still had a blast.  There's not usually a dull moment when we're together.  (Sometime, I'll have to tell you about our hiking trip.)  This Girl's Day was pretty short and sweet, but they're not all that way.  We tend to be pretty adventurous!

They are the kind of friends that everyone needs, they're there for you when you need them.  Whether it's just to get away and have some fun or to lift you up out of the dump when you're having a hard time.  I'm looking forward to our next get together.  Who knows what kind of excitement we might stir up!

Rain

Webster's Dictionary defines RAIN as:
water falling in drops condensed from vapor in the atmosphere.

I had to look up this definition, because its been so long since I've seen any rain that I almost forgot what it is.

Here in our small town, we haven't had  any rain since March.  The storms seem to pass right to the north of us or right to the south of us.  Leaving us with some of the lesser rain fall totals than most of the state.

This is a picture of my back yard and fruit trees.  It looks like something you'd see in the late fall.

And our gardening adventure has become a water pit.  It doesn't matter how much LB pours on, the heat is just too much.  We had to plow up most of it because it just wouldn't produce.  There's just a few things still hanging on.

This past Sunday, our Governor asked us to have a day of prayer for rain.  I am sending this out to you in hopes that we can turn our "Day of Prayer" into an every day event.  Our state is in a serous drought and heat wave. We need to pray that God would send us rain.

How Time Flies

I can't believe it!  He's already two weeks old!

Well, two weeks and a few days.  I took pictures and planned to post them on Tuesday, but time got away from me.

So, for a quick update, in these past two weeks, Baby J and I have:
1.)  Had a diaper Catastrophe in the car seat.  Had to turn around and go back home.

2.)  Made our first trip to the farm with Daddy.

3.)  Taken the Crazy Haired Dog to the vet; he now has 7 stitches above his eye.

4.)  Made a trip to LB's work so everybody could see Baby J.

5.)  Spit up on Daddy and made Mommy laugh.

6.)  Gone through 200 changes of clothes.

  7.)  Gone through 200 diapers

8.)  Made our first trip to Wal-mart for groceries.

9.)  Had another diaper catastrophe on mommy's shirt at Wal-mart.

10.)  Gone to Church.  Twice and without crying!

11.)  Gained 9 ounces, which puts Baby J at 10 lbs 9 oz making him really heavy once he's in his car seat.

And the list could go on...
