That Time Of Year Again!

Well, It's that time of year again!  It came early this year since it has been so dry.  There wasn't much moisture in the wheat, so we didn't have to wait long for it to dry out.

Since my belly is big and fat, and since I only have 3 weeks left, I haven't been out to the field like I usual.

We actually started cutting wheat on Friday, but I didn't make it out until Sunday and today to get pictures.

We spent yesterday and today cutting seed wheat.  That means, we will put all the wheat into a bin on the farm to use for planting next year.

All the wheat is first dumped into the wheat truck.  The wheat truck is then driven to the bin and dumped from the truck into the pit where it is then augured into the bin.

It is a very long, noisy and dirty process!

Fruit

Well, I spent the whole blog yesterday telling you about my vegetable garden, so I thought that tonight I'd tell you about my fruit trees.

I believe last year, I told you about my two apricot trees and how the late snow over spring break wiped out my crop.

Well, this year, I think I'm going to have a few apricots!

And my Pear trees look better too.  They aren't as overloaded as they were last year.

Maybe I won't loose any branches this year!

Your fruity friend,
Amy

My Vegetable Garden

I have a vegetable garden.  Have I told you that?

I do. LB and I have been married for six years and I've pestered him every year to dig up a spot for me.  And he finally gave in!
And I have a garden twice as big as I ever expected.

I know I've been saying "I" have a garden but, I technically haven't done any of the work. LB and my mother-in-law have done it all since I'm pregnant. They've done a wonderful job too.

We have...
Onions

Strawberries

Zucchini

Garlic

and potatoes, and cantaloupe, and green beans and squash and okra and corn...

In a few weeks I'll be able to reap the benefits of someone else's work!  I guess I better enjoy it while I can, I wont get off this easy next year!

Oklahoma's Weather

Well, I'm not really sure where to start with this post.

I had a post all typed up and ready to post for today about our garden, but I just don't feel like I should post it after the evening we've had here in Oklahoma.

For those of you who have been watching the weather this evening, know about the tornadoes that have plagued our state today.

I'm an Oklahoma native and am not a newcomer to tornado weather.  But, I have never experienced a direct hit to any tornado damage, until today.

My parents place was hit this evening.

The wonderful place where I grew up, was in the line of the tornado that hit Stillwater.  Luckily, their house is OK, but the property is mangled and covered with lots of debris.  Once I found out my parents were OK, but that their place was not, my heart was broken.  I wanted to immediately jump in my car and drive the 150 miles home and give them both a big hug.   Then I wanted to wave my magic wand make all the trash go away and mend all the fences, but unfortunately, I don't have a magic wand and even if I could have gone up there, there would have been nothing I could have done tonight.

I know there are a lot of you who are going through the same thing, and I just wanted to let you all know my thoughts and prayers are going out to you tonight!  And I'm going to ask every one of you that is reading this to just take a moment to say a prayer for everyone who is suffering.

With Love,
Amy

Another Shower

As I mentioned last week, I had another shower and my wonderful family came all the way to western Oklahoma to attend!

Everyone must think that we like farming or something, because again the theme was farm!
I wonder where they got that idea?

This cake was great!  It had peanut butter icing!

This shower was a blessing!

We received lots of wonderful things.  Some things just for fun, but lots of stuff that will help us out in the long run.  Like a high chair, swing, diapers, lots of clothes, the list just goes on and on...

This is a very cute book that I think should be in every home.

There was even some manipulating going on!

To everyone out there:  Thank You!
LB and I appreciate everything.
We both feel very blessed to have so many good friends out there.
 Thanks for all the gifts
LB and Amy
