Dust

If you happened to be in Western Oklahoma this afternoon, around 5:00, and you happened to look at the sky, this is what you would have seen.

All that haze in the sky is dirt!

That's right, the wind was blowing so hard, that it turned our sky red!

It also has something to do with the fact that we haven't had rain and our ground is dry and cracked.  Just like my skin in the winter time.

It's also because we have no trees here to stop the dust.

On days like today, we keep the windows shut tight, even though it was a beautiful 70 degrees outside!

Please everyone, pray for Rain!

Thinking On The Future

Six years ago I married this man.

A year later, I got this little guy!

So, for the past 6 years I have lived with, cleaned up after, and put up with dirty boys!  And now, I'm going to have another one. My life will never be the same!

I grew up with girls.  Hair bows, barbies and cabbage patch dolls.  Granted I did play outside a lot and helped build fence and I rode horses, but I still liked to be clean.  And I've also herd through the grapevine, that boys don't mind dirt!  Well, being around my husband and his brother these past six years, has proven this rumor to be true.  I guess I'm going to have to get better at getting dirt, grease, and grass stains out of Jeans.

But, once it's all said and done, and the evening comes to and end, and everyone's all scrubbed clean, I don't think I'll mind having another little guy to add to this picture:

The Guys

This is my father-in-law, my husband, and the mechanic.  They're off on a mission!  Father and son's working together.  Maybe soon I'll have pictures of my husband and his son to post!

A fouond Picture!

I found this picture on my computer a few days ago.  LB took this and a series of others last month while I was working on the computer.  I never looked at the pictures, I just uploaded them with the others and went on about my business.  But, a few days ago when I was looking for a specific picture I came across the ones LB took and got tickled at a couple of them.  The above picture being one of them.

One of the things Moose likes to do is sit on the back of my couch.  And sometimes when I'm sitting on the couch, he'll scoot over so he can see over my shoulder at what ever I'm working on.  On this particular night, I was writing my blog.  LB saw something he thought was cute and grabbed my camera.  And like always, whenever he gets ahold of my camera, he takes hundreds of pictures, and then later, I get to go through them and pick out the ones that are in focus.  As I went through the pictures, I came across what LB was seeing:

(Please take note: it was late and I had just gotten out of the shower, so my hair was crazy.)

Moose was watching my computer very closely!

This is now one of my favorite pictures!

The Farm

Needless to say, I haven't been to the farm much lately.

I know, I'm the "Farmer's Wife"  and I haven't posted anything about the farm in a long time.

There really hasn't been much to post.  This is our slow time of year.  Especially this year,  because we're not running any stocker calves.  We just have our Mommas and babies.

I went with LB to check the calves the other day just so I could take pictures and write a post.

Here are our Cows and Calves:

"Hello, do you have something for me?  I can smell something in that sack!"

We have some very curious calves again this year.

By this point in my picture taking I was freezing so I hopped back in the pick up with Moose.  I'll return soon once the weather brightens up some.

21 Weeks

Today, I am 21 Weeks pregnant!  (I'm starting to get really excited.  Now that I know it's a boy and am starting to feel the baby move, I can't wait until he's here!)

Last month I decided that it might be fun to take monthly pictures to see how much I'm growing.  The scales at the Dr's office say 6 pounds, but I feel like it's a lot more.  Until I took today's picture and then compared it to last month's I hadn't realized how much I had changed.

Here is a picture of me last month, 17 Weeks pregnant:

Here is today's picture:

How much bigger am I going to get over the next 19 Weeks?

Boy or Girl?

Yesterday morning, before the sun began to shine, LB and I began our trek to The City.  This was no ordinary trip to the city.  No, this was an exciting, very very exciting, trip to the city.  We were to find out if we were going to have a boy or girl.  Well, as you all know, we've received snow this last week here in our great state.  So, traveling to The city would be no trick until we got into The City where approximately a foot of snow had fallen and temperatures were still below freezing.

We were over an hour into our journey, only 30 minutes from the Dr's office, when we got the call.  Pipes had burst in the building and our Ultra Sound appointment was canceled!  We were still to see our Dr. at 9:30, but that was still over two hours away. But, what were we going to do until then?  And how easily would we be able to get around especially since it began to snow again?  That's right, more snow.

Now, I live in Oklahoma, not New York City.  I have no desire to live in New York City, one of the reasons being, I don't like snow that much.  Or the cold for that matter.  Luckily we had other errands to run.  We took care of them and then headed to the Dr's office.

Not having been able to have our Ultra Sound, our appointment with the Dr. was short.  She measured my abdomen, weighed me, and took my blood pressure.  All were fine.  As LB and I were getting ready to leave she popped her head back in and said "I just got a call from the imaging building.  The water is back on and they'll start seeing patients at noon.  Why don't yall head over there and see if they can work you in so you don't have to make another trip since you live so far away."

That idea sounded great to us.  If we didn't have to make another trip and take another day off work it would be worth the wait.

We only had to wait about 30 minutes, before they called us back.  Yahoo!

The ultra sound lady was really nice.  We told her we were hoping she could tell us what the sex of the baby was.  She said she would if the baby would cooperate.  I laid down on the bed and LB got comfortable in the chair.  She squeezed the cold gel on my belly and got the show on the road.  Baby Jones was not wanting to cooperate at first.  He/She was very wiggly. Once She/He calmed down, we saw the backbone, kidneys, stomach, hands, feet, and the cute little baby face.  We even saw a cute little baby yawn!

She worked for a long time taking pictures and measuring.  I was beginning to wonder if she was ever going to tell us the sex.  Then at the last second, she pulled up a picture of the baby we hadn't seen yet.  There was a leg and then another leg, and then right in between...

That's right, IT'S A BOY!!!

Blizzard Pictures

I am keeping my word and posting pictures of my snow drifts.  But, I live in Western Oklahoma where there is no wind block; so I only took a few pictures because I did not want to receive frostbite on my face.

This is the biggest drift, right through the middle of my back yard.

A smaller drift behind our barns.  Isn't it crazy how it won't pile right up against the building.

This drift was a lot larger, it has just been travled through.

From picnics to blizzards!

I spent Thursday through Saturday of last week enjoying the beautiful spring like weather.  It was even enough to give me spring fever!  And pull out my flip flops!  And sit outside in my lawn chair with a book!  It was just enough warmth and sun to make me forget my chores and become lazy.

But, just like any Oklahoma January, weather can and will change overnight.

When I woke up on Sunday morning, it was all over.  My glorious sunny weather was replaced with a cloudy, windy, and chilly day.  The cold front had come in!  Hopefully it would bring the much needed moisture with it.

So, Monday night as we lay snuggled in our bed, the wind began to howl, and the snow began to blow.  The temperature dropped rapidly and the wind chill was below zero.  Then, about 12:30, my crazy haired dog, decided that he needed to go potty.  My wonderful husband generously volunteered to stand out in the wind while my cute little puppy took care of his business.  The wind was blowing so strong, that I don't know how my 15 pound dog didn't blow away!

School was canceled, so I was one of the fortunate ones that got to stay home.  And, I have learned that snow days have the same effect on me as Spring weather.  It took me several hours to convince myself that there were other things I could be doing with my time, other than watching people in The City struggle with travel.  Although some of the footage was pretty humorous.  Why would anyone in Oklahoma own a snowmobile? I don't know either, but there was a guy riding one around the City according to Channel 9.

Anyway, the sun began to shine in Western Oklahoma around 2:30 this afternoon.  The storm was over.  Once it was all said and done, we only received about 3" of snow.  But, the wind blew so hard that most of the snow ended up in drifts.  Some of the drifts I have seen from my windows could probably measure 4' tall.  There's not much snow anywhere else in my yard other than right where the drifts formed.  Unfortunately, this is the same thing that occurred on our wheat fields.  The fields are so flat, that the snow just blows right over and drifts into the ditches.  But, every little bit helps.  The little bits of snow that stuck to the wheat, is better than nothing at all.

I wanted to take pictures for you all, but my house was so nice and warm, that I only ventured out once today and that was after dark with LB to wish a special someone a happy birthday.  So, if the wind doesn't blow tomorrow, I'll snap a few pictures to share.

Until then,

Amy
